The Foxboro 870ITEC-AYFNZ is an 8-channel thermocouple input module for the I/A Series distributed control system. The “870” identifies the analog input module family, “ITEC” denotes Input Thermocouple with Cold Junction Compensation, and “AYFNZ” is the specific hardware revision. This module accepts thermocouple signals (Types J, K, T, E, N, R, S, B) directly from field temperature sensors and converts them to engineering units (degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit) using high-accuracy cold junction compensation. The module provides 16-bit resolution with excellent linearity, making it suitable for precise temperature measurement in process plants. The cold junction compensation is performed on-board using a precision temperature sensor, eliminating the need for external CJC modules.
