The Foxboro FBM02 is a 2-slot base chassis module for the Foxboro FBM (Function Block Module) series, which is the core of the Foxboro I/A Series DCS. The “FBM” stands for Function Block Module, and “02” indicates a 2-slot chassis. This module does not process any signals itself; instead, it provides the backplane, power distribution, and communication backbone for up to two I/O or communication modules. The FBM02 is the foundation of every I/A Series controller, housing the processor and providing the slots where all the intelligence lives. Every I/A Series installation starts with one or more FBM02 chassis populated with the required I/O and communication modules.
