Technical Specifications:
Board Type: Redundant High-Density Analog Input Module
System: Foxboro I/A Series (Series 1, 2, 3)
Channels: 32 channels (16 redundant pairs)
Input Signals: 4-20mA, 1-5V, 0-10V, RTD (Pt100, Pt1000, Cu100), Thermocouple (all types)
Resolution: 16-bit A/D conversion (dual converter per channel)
Accuracy: +/- 0.05% of full scale
Redundancy: Dual A/D converters per channel with 2-out-of-3 voting
Isolation: 1500V RMS channel-to-channel and channel-to-ground (double standard FBM230)
Update Rate: 250 milliseconds per channel
Cold Junction Compensation: Built-in high-precision CJC
Burnout Detection: Per-channel burnout detection with alarm
Voting: 2-out-of-3 hardware voting with redundant module pairs
LED Indicators: Per-channel dual LEDs (green for Ch A, red for Ch B, yellow for disagreement)
Power: 5V DC from I/A Series backplane
Form Factor: 3U Eurocard
Operating Temperature: 0 to 60 degrees Celsius
Functional Features:
True Redundancy: Two independent A/D converters per channel ensure that a single converter failure never causes a measurement loss.
Disagreement Detection: The yellow LED lights up when the two converters disagree beyond a configurable threshold, alerting operators to a developing fault.
2-out-of-3 Voting: When two FBM237 modules are installed, the controller votes all three values (Ch A from Module 1, Ch B from Module 1, and corresponding channel from Module 2), providing the highest integrity.
Enhanced Isolation: 1500V RMS isolation (double the standard 500V) protects against severe electrical transients.
Per-Channel Diagnostics: Each channel continuously monitors its own A/D converter health, isolation barrier integrity, and burnout status.
Fail-Safe Output: On communication loss or converter failure, the module drives the controller input to a predetermined safe value.
