The Foxboro FEM100 is an Ethernet communication module for the Foxboro I/A Series distributed control system. The “FEM” stands for Fast Ethernet Module, “100” identifies the module as the 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface. This module provides standard Ethernet connectivity to the I/A Series controller, enabling communication with plant-wide networks, historians, asset management systems, and engineering workstations. The FEM100 supports standard TCP/IP protocols including Modbus TCP, EtherNet/IP, and OPC, making it the gateway between the proprietary I/A Series world and the standard Ethernet world. It connects directly to the I/A Series backplane and requires no external switches or routers.
