The Triconex 2481 is a triple-redundant communication module (TCM) that serves as the gateway between the Triconex safety controller and the outside world. It provides the physical and logical interface for all external communications, including peer-to-peer communication between Triconex racks, communication with Distributed Control Systems (DCS), operator workstations, and remote I/O racks. The “2481” designation identifies it as the standard communication module in the Series 1 family. The triple redundancy means three identical communication processors operate in lockstep, voting their outputs to ensure that a single communication failure never causes a loss of safety function.
