The MX150 is a data concentrator and multiplexer board designed for GE Mark V turbine control systems. The “MX” stands for Multiplexer, and “150” is the model number. Its primary function is to aggregate data from multiple serial communication links (RS-232, RS-422, RS-485) and present it as a single high-speed data stream to the main CPU via the VMEbus. This allows the control system to communicate with dozens of remote devices (meters, relays, PLCs) over a single serial port, dramatically reducing wiring complexity. The MX150 was essential in large power plants where the turbine controller needed to talk to hundreds of field devices.
