Technical Specifications:
Board Type: Remote Station Fiber Switch (RS-FS)
Revision: 9001
Fiber Ports: 4 SFP slots (1 Gbps multimode or single-mode fiber)
Ethernet Ports: 8 RJ-45 Gigabit Ethernet ports (local connectivity)
Switching Capacity: 8 Gbps non-blocking
Fiber Distance: Up to 10 km (single-mode) or 550 m (multimode)
Redundancy: MRP (Media Redundancy Protocol) for ring topology
Protocols: TCP/IP, UDP, Modbus TCP, DNP3 over IP
Power Consumption: 5 Watts
Operating Temperature: 0 to 60 degrees Celsius (standard) or -40 to 70 degrees Celsius (extended)
Form Factor: VIC Eurocard (3U height)
Functional Features:
Fiber Optic Extension: Provides high-bandwidth, electrically isolated connections between the remote rack and the main control room, immune to electromagnetic interference.
Local Switching: The 8 Ethernet ports allow local devices (sensors, actuators, HMI panels) in the remote rack to communicate with each other without traversing the fiber link.
Ring Redundancy: Supports MRP for zero-recovery-time ring topologies; if one fiber path fails, traffic automatically switches to the alternate path in less than 50 milliseconds.
Hot Swappable SFPs: SFP modules can be replaced while the system is running, allowing maintenance without downtime.
LED Diagnostics: Per-port LEDs show link status, data activity, and error conditions for both fiber and copper ports.
